Žitná 4, Prague 2 — Erasmus Student Residence
About the Residence
Žitná 1765/4 is a residence comprising two buildings in the heart of Prague, situated at the corner of Charles Square and Žitná street. The property is established exclusively for international university students participating in the Erasmus programme. A total of 84 private rooms are available across apartments ranging from 2 to 5 bedrooms.
Every bedroom is fully private and individually furnished with a writing desk, wardrobe, divan, and double bed. Some rooms also feature an en-suite shower. All room prices are quoted inclusive of a monthly service charge of CZK 3,700 per person, covering waste collection, utilities, and internet. Kitchen, bathrooms, and all other facilities are shared. Photos and a video tour of the apartments and all rooms are available on request.
History
The Žitná 4 complex consists of two buildings. The rear building has its origins in the 15th century, when it served as an ironsmith's workshop with a drive-in courtyard for wagons and horses, supplying the agricultural market at the adjacent Charles Square. In 1886, the courtyard was built over with a five-storey building.
Reservation Periods
Reservations are accepted for the following full periods only:
Reservations must cover one of the above full periods — either the full academic year or a full semester. Partial-month reservations cannot be accepted when students make individual room reservations. Students are welcome to form groups and reserve an entire apartment for a full semester by listing all future residents' names in the reservation.
Individual Booking Assistance
Students who do not already have a group may register individually, indicating their preferences regarding companions, nationality, gender, or field of study. We will then reply with possible contacts so that you can arrange to share an apartment. This process takes some time but produces a truly international mix — very much in the spirit of the EU Erasmus programme.
The summer period (July and August) is generally reserved for tourist stays, unless students specifically wish to remain — for example, internship students and trainees.
Scam & Fraud Prevention
There is no agency commission, as you deal directly with the owner. To protect against fraud, no deposit is required until you have inspected the premises in person upon arrival.
City Transport
The location offers outstanding public transport connections. Within a 3-minute walk is Karlovo náměstí metro station (line B – yellow). Nearby tram stops serve lines 3, 4, 6, 10, 16, 18, 22, and 24, as well as night trams 51 through 59, and bus lines 291, 504, 505, 510, 511, and 552. Wenceslas Square (metro line A) is a 5-minute walk away.
Reservation Conditions
The deposit is equal to two months' rent, payable in cash (EUR) upon or before arrival, and fully refunded upon departure.
